Governing board member — Prof. Tim Vanuytsel graduated in 2007 from Leuven University Medical School. He obtained a PhD degree in biomedical sciences in 2014 with a thesis on the role and mechanisms of intestinal permeability in functional gastrointestinal disorders. Dr. Vanuytsel currently is a consultant gastroenterologist in Leuven University Hospitals with a clinical focus functional gastrointestinal disorders and chronic intestinal failure. He is an associate professor at Leuven University. Dr. Vanuytsel’s research interest lies in the pathophysiology and treatment of functional gastrointestinal disorders and short bowel syndrome. He has published >200 original research articles and reviews in international peer-reviewed journals. In 2022 he received the Rising Star Award from United European Gastroenterology (UEG).
